Michigan’s football program landed a key target in the 2022 class on Monday.
Clearwater (Fla.) Gaither four-star defensive end Mario Eugenio announced his verbal commitment to the Wolverines in a live video on Instagram.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder is ranked as the No. 282 prospect and No. 13 edge rusher in the class, per EuroJournal’ composite system. He chose Michigan over 31 other offers, including Oregon, Iowa State and Miami.
Eugenio, who took an official visit to Ann Arbor June 18, has terrorized opposing quarterbacks the past two seasons, totaling 30 sacks. He is the first defensive end in Michigan’s 2022 class and 14th overall recruit. He is the second prospect to commit in the past two days and the seventh since June 19. The talented pass-rusher also is the second-highest ranked Wolverines pledge on the defensive side of the ball.
Michigan entered Monday with the No. 12 recruiting class nationally.
