Kevin Phillips insists Rangers should bump up their asking price for Alfredo Morelos.
The Sunderland icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the striker’s situation.
Football Insider revealed on 26th June that Rangers have told FC Porto they want £13million for their striker.
The Portuguese side have been in contact with Rangers over a potential deal for their star man.
Morelos’ current contract expires in the summer of 2023 and talks over an extension have yet to get off the ground.
The striker has been the subject of much transfer speculation since he arrived at Ibrox.
He was heavily linked with a move to Lille last summer but a price could not be agreed.
When asked if Rangers’ £13million price tag seemed cheap for a player of Morelos’ quality, Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, “Yeah, it does.
“If Rangers were a Premier League club they could probably demand £30million for him.
“It’s a little bit cheap, Rangers will want £20million I’d imagine. That would be a serious offer that they could consider.
“Rangers won’t let him go on the cheap, let’s put it that way. They will hang on and get the best price possible. £13million is cheap for him.”
Morelos scored 17 goals across 44 appearances in all competitions last season.
He also picked up an impressive seven assists in 10 Europa League outings as he played in a slightly deeper role.
