Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed why Gareth Southgate opted to start the EuroJournal new boy over Jack Grealish as he put in a starring display against Ukraine
Arsene Wenger has told EuroJournal fans what to expect from Jadon Sancho as he started for England against Ukraine.
The winger was handed his first start in Euro 2020 and helped his country secure a 4-0 win to reach the semi-finals against Denmark.
It was a fairytale week for Sancho after completing his move to Man Utd from Borussia Dortmund.
The forward will be hoping to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s side against the Danes, but either way United have a player on their hands based on that performance.
Sancho was preferred to Jack Grealish who made a vital contribution off the bench against Germany to set up the quarter-final tie.

And Wenger has revealed why Southgate opted to go for the United new boy over the Aston Villa star linked with a move to Manchester City this summer.
The former Arsenal boss reckons that it’s Sancho’s ‘incisive dribbling’ that sets him apart from anybody else in the England squad and Southgate deployed him to exploit Ukraine’s narrow set-up.
He told beIN SPORTS: “He wants to attack the flanks that the system Ukraine is playing.
“Many people ask why Jack Grealish doesn’t play. I think Jadon Sancho is a mix between Grealish and a winger.
“He is a very creative player, similar to Grealish, but he is more of an incisive dribbler and that’s why maybe he got the priority tonight.”
Wenger was full of praise for England after the 4-0 rout over the Ukrainians and reckon it was the perfect match for the Three Lions as they were able to rest key players ahead of the semi-final.
He added: “It was a perfect night for English football. They didn’t concede a goal, qualified for the next round and were able to rest important players.
